October 14, 9,5 weeks after the stroke.
Yesterday, tuesday october 13h I was discharged from Danderyd hospital, where I’ve spent the last 7 weeks doing mostly physiotherapy.
I’ve learned to walk again, albeit with a slight limp at the moment, I have regained almost all of the function of my left leg. I’ve been able to ride an excersice bike and walk on a treadmill (I’ve actually ben able to run shorter periods of time on the treadmill, albeit in a harness in case I should stumble and fall).
My left arm is a different story. I’ve regained some movement and control, but for most everyday purposes it’s still almost useless.
I’m now being ”handed over” to a neuro-team here at home in Södertälje, who will help me with further training. I’ll also be visiting Huddinge hospital where they have a day-ward associated with the rehab for brain damaged that I’ve been confined to at Danderyd.
In addition to that I’ll most likely be doing CI-therapy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Const…) to try to regain full usability of my left arm.
I’ve gotten a training regimen that I’ll try to follow as well, both for movement and muscle strength (arm/shoulder-specific exercises, daily walks etc)
So, even though I’m not in the hospital anymore, I’ll still have physiotherapy exercises to keep my days going through the winter.
