Normalize HipChat usernames

When exporting data from HipChat Server or Data Center you will end up with unusable usernames due to the fact that HipChat doesn’t care about usernames, it uses email address as it’s authentication id.

It will create usernames (or mention names (mention_name variable) as it calls it) from your users full names, i.e. Firstname Lastname becomes FirstnameLastname, it will then allow users to change this into whatever they like. Now trying to import all these users into another system that uses AD/LDAP for authentication will most likely not work since your AD/LDAP will probably (most likely) not be setup to use accountnames constructed like FirstnameLastname. When importing into for instance Mattermost it will complain about email address already used with another username and bail out.

Ny server, nya versioner

Read more

Gallery2 Multisite

Read more

Upgrade!!!

Ha! Finally some activity. I’ve just upgraded the blog software from b2 to WordPress. Will play with it for a while and see what it’s like. I’ve already noticed that it totally screwed my stylesheet though, will have to fix that soon. Will be using one of the default ones meanwhile.

(s)low activity…

Hmm, I haven’t been updating this the way I thought I would when I started it up. I’ve been caught up with other things to do. Refurbishing our patio, playing golf, playing with my new camera, playing with the cats, preparing for Eurobasket 2003, working etc… I will put up some photos taken with my … Read more

testing out w.bloggar…

I’m testing out w.bloggar. Edit (20:04): It seems to work as expected, unfortunately it’s M$ Windows based. 🙁 I’m trying desperately to find a similiar tool for UNIX/Linux, but the only thing I’ve found is MozBlog, but that’s not really what I want. I want a standalone tool. I’ll just have to continue looking…

once again…

I have re-done the css/index.php once again – this time from scratch. The page looked like crap in IE6, and was totally screwed up in Opera 7. With a little help (eh, it’s probably called stealing) from Mike Little’s blog and once again the excellent Three Column layout from bluerobot.com I’ve created this monster. I … Read more

CSS for this site…

I’ll kill myself soon… I’m trying to get this page to look the way I want it to, but so far all I have done is completely destroyed it once… Found this tutorial though, it looks very good for someone that, like me, has never done anything with style sheets before.
