November 26, 3,5 months after the stroke<\/p>\n

Since I was discharged from the hospital (mid october) I\u2019ve been seeing a couple of\u00a0 physiotherapists at a smaller clinic close to home (1km walk) a 2-4 times a week.<\/p>\n

As of Monday (November 30) I\u2019ll be going to a hospital again (Huddinge this time), but only on a daily basis. I\u2019ll be admitted to a specialised rehab ward for brain damaged patients, primarily for more and (hopefully) more specialised physiotherapy. This rehab ward is actually a branch of the ward at Danderyd, where I was admitted for 7,5 weeks earlier.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ll be seeing doctors, psychologists, nurses and physiotherapists daily for more intensive rehab training. I don\u2019t yet know for how long though.<\/p>\n

My current status is that I can walk, albeit with a limp, (I\u2019ve been walking to and from the local clinic (1km one way) a couple of times a week) and I\u2019m starting to be able to use my left arm somewhat. I\u2019m still unable to lift my daughter the way most parents do (one hand under each arm of the child), although a workaround is to lift her with my right arm around her ( and with her arms around my neck). I\u2019m still unable to use my left hand on the keyboard of my computer, if I try I press all the keys on the left hand side at once (not very useful). One comparison for you is that it feels like having 20 kg (40 lbs) hanging from my left wrist (try it sometime!!!) when trying to use it.<\/p>\n

My balance is not 100% yet, but it\u2019s getting closer. Soon I\u2019ll be able to walk the dogs without being afraid of being pulled down.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
